Kanahele Krunch x Crabby Baddies SF

I was scrolling Instagram when a @crabbybaddiessf carousel came across my feed, and I immediately thought:

I love this. I need to be a part of this.

The branding caught me first. A group of women looking like pirates on the edge of San Francisco, throwing crab nets into the Bay and catching their own dinner? I loved it. But the more I looked into Baddies Who Crab, the more I loved what they were actually about—getting women outside, learning something new, having fun, and making the outdoors, especially the edge of a dock, feel like a place where everyone belongs.

Crabby Baddie founder, Alyssa reeling in some keepers.

So I sent them a DM and said exactly that.

Luckily, they loved what Kanahele Krunch was about too.

They told me they had a meetup coming up on Sunday, August 16th, and I told them I’d be there—with 25 bags of Krunch for the baddies. Crabby baddie fuel.

When I walked onto the dock that morning, I really had no idea what to expect.

It was classic San Francisco: fog hanging low over the Golden Gate Bridge, cold air coming off the water, surfers over at Fort Point, seals swimming around the dock

And everywhere I looked, women were casting rods and tossing crab nets into the Bay.

And it was SO much fun.

People were teaching each other, cheering when a net came up with a crab, untangling lines, comparing catches, laughing, drinking Coors Lights, and genuinely just enjoying being outside together.

I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life, and I'll never get over the fact that the water's edge here is this intersection between city streets and sandy coastlines.

You can look one direction and see the Golden Gate Bridge disappearing into the fog. Look toward Fort Point and there are surfers in the water. Seals are swimming by underneath you. And meanwhile, a group of badass women are standing on a dock throwing nets into the Bay and bringing home dinner.

That is exactly the kind of community I want Kanahele Krunch to show up for.

When I started this little venture, I never wanted it to exist only on a grocery store shelf. I wanted it to be something you throw in your bag before heading outside. Something you bring to the beach, the trail, the dock—fuel to get after the day, maybe try something new, and put yourself out there.

So seeing a bag of Kanahele Krunch sitting beside crab nets, fishing rods, thermoses, rain jackets, and everything else scattered across the dock felt pretty perfect.

And getting to share it with 25 women spending their Sunday morning learning, laughing, getting a little wet, and catching their own dinner?

Even better.

Thank you to Crabby Baddies or letting Kanahele Krunch crash the party.

Here’s to more mornings outside, more women trying things they’ve never done before, more food caught with your own two hands—and plenty of Krunch along for the ride.

From the Islands to the Bay, with aloha. 🥥🤙
