Welcome to Kanahele Krunch HQ

This is hands down my favorite room I’ve ever built—and my favorite room I’ve ever had.

It might not be what you traditionally picture when you hear the word “headquarters.” There’s no conference room, no reception desk, and no fancy office kitchen.

Instead, there’s a desk in the corner, a surfboard against the wall, a label printer, stacks of Kanahele Krunch bags, shipping supplies, old magazines, brand assets, and usually some music playing.

Welcome to Kanahele Krunch HQ.

It’s a little room in my home in Mill Valley, California, but to me, it represents something much bigger.

It’s a space to dream, build, and figure out just how far I can take this little coconut company.

Building the Company I Want to Work For

Kanahele Krunch was never born in an office.

It was built in early mornings before work, late nights after work, weekends spent cooking, runs where an idea popped into my head, drives up and down the Northern California coast, and a whole lot of figuring things out as I went.

And as Kanahele Krunch has grown, I’ve started thinking about something beyond the product itself:

What do I want it to actually feel like to work here one day?

I want to build a company where working hard and living fully aren't competing ideas.

Where going for a run in the middle of the day isn't something you have to feel guilty about. Where you can wake up early, get after it, and leave yourself an afternoon to surf. Where creativity is encouraged. Where people care deeply about what they make, but also have lives, hobbies, adventures, families, and communities that matter to them.

So, naturally, Kanahele Krunch HQ needed a few office rules.

The Kanahele Krunch HQ Rules

1. Movement is part of the work.
Go for the run. Get in the ocean. Take the walk. Active clothes, sandy feet, and salty faces post-adventure are always appropriate office attire.

2. If the surf is good, the snow is falling, or the sun is especially warm, there’s definitely some flexibility in the schedule.

There are days worth rearranging your calendar for.

3. Work hard and get after it—in work and in life.

I believe deeply in working hard. I also believe there should always be room for both.

4. Schedules are flexible.

If you want to wake up early, get your work done, and take advantage of the daylight, you can. Kanahele Krunch was built in the early hours and late nights, and that spirit of making work fit around life shouldn’t change.

5. Take care of yourself, your people, and the place you get to call home.

Success doesn't mean much if we lose those things along the way.

6. Leave room for creativity.

Music on. Magazines open. Ideas welcome. Not everything productive has to look productive.

From the Islands to the Bay

Maybe someday Kanahele Krunch HQ won't be a room in my house.

I dream about what that place could look like all the time. A space that feels as much like Kanahele Krunch as this little room does. A kitchen where we're making something delicious. A place to work and create. Maybe Kanahele Kafé? Somewhere you can come in after a morning run or surf and still have salt in your hair.

But I hope that as the space gets bigger, the feeling never changes.

Because Kanahele Krunch is me. It’s my Hawaiian heritage, my Northern California upbringing, my love of movement and the outdoors, my creativity, and my belief that there’s a really beautiful way to work hard without forgetting to live.

And that's exactly what this little room has become too.

A headquarters built around the life I love.
