More Than A New Bag
If you've ordered Kanahele Krunch recently and have been with us since the beginning, you've probably noticed something different.
The packaging changed.
What you might not know is that this new bag has been months in the making.
There were design revisions, delayed timelines, lost packages, samples that never arrived, packaging that looked great on a screen but not quite right in person, and more than a few moments where I wondered when this would finally get nailed down.
Building a small business means learning things you never expected to learn. Last year, I knew how to make a snack I loved. I knew how to share it with friends and family. I knew how to tell a story.
I did not know anything about packaging.
Luckily, I knew someone who did.
The first thing we did was hop on a call and talk about inspiration. Not packaging specs or dimensions, but how I wanted people to feel when they picked up a bag of Kanahele Krunch for the first time.
The Kanahele Krunch inspo board
We talked about the feeling of an early morning surf check. The satisfaction of finishing a long run. The excitement of building something from scratch. We talked about Hawaiʻi, community, and the people I hoped this snack would find its way to.
Only after that did we get into packaging windows, barrier films, print proofs, UPC placement, ingredient panels, and all the little details that somehow become very big details when your product is headed to a store shelf.
And somewhere along the way, the vision became clear.
This wasn't going to be a snack brand built around indulgence.
It was going to be a snack brand built around intention.
A snack for the runners, surfers, creators, entrepreneurs, parents, and adventurers who are squeezing every ounce out of the day they've been given.
Something that felt at home in a surf bag, a gym bag, on the passenger seat of a road trip, or in your pantry as a small reminder of who you are and how you want to show up in the world.
Because the truth is, the packaging was never just about packaging.
It was about creating something that felt like Kanahele Krunch.
Something that felt like Hawaiʻi.
Something that felt like Marin.
And something that felt like the people I built this snack for.
Because Kanahele Krunch isn't really a snack for everyone.
It's a snack for people who get after it.
The people who wake up before sunrise to catch a wave with coffee in hand.
The runners heading out before work.
The parents squeezing movement into a busy day.
The creators building something from nothing.
The people who make time for the things that light them up.
The people who know life feels better when you're moving toward something.
The people who value connection and make time for others.
The people who get after it. Not because they have to, but because they love chasing everything life has to offer.
That's why the packaging is black.
It's why the design is simple.
It's why the tagline reads:
Rooted in the Rhythm of Getting After It.
For some people, getting after it means chasing a marathon PR.
For others, it's starting a business.
For others, it's spending more time with family, getting outside, creating art, or finally saying yes to something they've been putting off.
Whatever it looks like, it's about choosing to participate in your life instead of watching it pass by.
That's the community I hope Kanahele Krunch serves.
The new packaging is simply the first thing you'll notice.
The real goal is that every bag serves as a reminder to keep showing up for the things that make you feel alive.
Mahalo for being here.
We're just getting started.
